Making Lampshades, running Lampshade Making Workshops and Being on TV
In 2020 I was contacted by the production team for Escape to the Country, they were filming an episode in Cornwall and wanted to know if I would like to be involved and what I could demonstrate / teach. I had been making lampshades for about three years and they were beginning to be my main product/best seller, so l said I could teach the people moving to Cornwall how to make lampshades.
My first time teaching someone how to make lampshades was on TV
In the last five years I've now taught over 100 people in my lampshade making workshops. After the Escape to the Country Episode aired on BBC TV I was inspired to run workshops teach more people how to make lampshades. During the pandemic I sold lampshade kits including my designed fabric panel online, with a step by step guide and video on Youtube.
For a couple of years I had a studio space which enabled me to offer small group workshops, and I've been invited by the Broadway Arts Festival in the Cotswolds to run lampshade workshops during their festival.
In 2025 Patricia van den Akker from The Design Trust published a book called Teaching Creative Workshops in Person and Online and I was thrilled to be featured in her invaluable resource.
How I design and make my lampshades is also included in a book by Jane Warren called The Complete Guide to Making Lampshades
